Gibson to start shooting film in Mexico

VERACRUZ, Mexico, Oct. 28 (UPI) -- A bearded Mel Gibson called a news conference Friday to say he's ready to shoot an action-adventure movie in Mexico, but revealed little else.

Gibson told reporters filming of "Apocalypto" will take place in Veracruz on the Gulf of Mexico.

Without giving away any of the plot, Gibson said he is filming a story created in mythic proportions with no European faces, and set in the pre-Hispanic era, The Hollywood Reporter said.

Apocalypto is Greek for "the unveiling" or "a new beginning."

Gibson is producing, directing and financing the film. He would not reveal how much he is investing in the movie, but said it is less than people think.
