NASHVILLE, Oct. 28 (UPI) -- Cherryholmes won top honors at the 16th Annual International Bluegrass Music Association Awards in Nashville.
The family band made history by becoming the first to get nominations for both entertainer of the year and emerging artist, but lost the emerging artist award to the Grascals, who also won song of the year Thursday night at the Ryman Auditorioum, Billboard.com reported.
Rhonda Vincent won her sixth consecutive female vocalist award and Larry Sparks won his second consecutive male vocalist along with album and recorded event of the year honors for "40."
Doyle Lawson & Quicksilver received a fifth consecutive vocal group of the year award, as well as gospel performance of the year for "Praise His Name."
Ricky Skaggs won his seventh award for instrumental group of the year with Kentucky Thunder.
