Danny Glover joins the 'Dreamgirls' cast

LOS ANGELES, Oct. 27 (UPI) -- Hollywood veteran Danny Glover is joining Jamie Foxx, Eddie Murphy and Beyonce Knowles in the film adaptation of the Broadway's "Dreamgirls."

The musical about the rise of the fictional Dreamettes is based on the true story of Motown's The Supremes, The Hollywood Reporter noted Thursday.

Glover will play Marty Madison, the manager of Murphy's character, R&B star James "Thunder" Early. Knowes will be one the Dreamettes while Foxx has been cast as the group's Svengali-type manager, Curtis Taylor Jr.

Foxx has recently been quoted as saying he would like director Bill Condon to bring "American Idol" winner Fantasia Barrino aboard as one of the Dreamettes, as well.
