LOS ANGELES, Oct. 25 (UPI) -- The Sci Fi Channel has renewed both editions of "Stargate" for another season.

The cable network ordered 20 new episodes of "Stargate SG-1" and "Stargate Atlantis," Zap2it.com reports.

Production is to begin on both shows early next year with the new seasons set to bow in the summer of 2006.

The upcoming 10th season of "Stargate SG-1" will make it the longest running science-fiction drama on U.S. TV. The previous record-holder was Fox TV's "The X-Files," which ran nine seasons.
