CNN cancels 'Daybreak'

Oct. 25, 2005 at 9:03 PM   |   Comments

NEW YORK, Oct. 25 (UPI) -- CNN Tuesday canceled "Daybreak" in favor of an expanded, four-hour "American Morning."

Starting Nov. 28, "Daybreak" anchor Carol Costello will move to "American Morning" with Soledad O'Brien and Miles O'Brien, The Hollywood Reporter said.

"Daybreak" executive producer Bryan Bell will join "Morning" chief Kim Bondy's senior staff and other members of the "Daybreak" team will be reassigned.

"By focusing resources around our flagship morning broadcast and increasing its footprint on the air, we feel we can compete even more strongly in this critically important day part," CNN-U.S. President Jon Klein wrote in a staff memo.
