Theron says she balances work and life

LOS ANGELES, Oct. 24 (UPI) -- Actress Charlize Theron says she has not read a movie script since winning the best actress Oscar for "Monster" last year.

Theron said she agreed to star in "Aeon Flux" and "North Country" prior to last year's Academy Awards ceremony and she did not want to drag herself "over broken glass" by taking on more work, the World Entertainment News Network reported Monday.

The only post-Oscar project was her guest-stint on Fox TV's "Arrested Development."

"If you've just committed yourself to two projects, entertaining any other stuff is like dragging yourself over broken glass," Theron said. "It's my life. I'm not just a money-making machine. There have been some offers, but I just didn't feel ready to go (and) spend eight months on a film set.

"I love my life as much as my work. I don't want one to take over the other."
