Jackson settles suit with antiques store

LOS ANGELES, Oct. 24 (UPI) -- An 11th-hour settlement canceled Monday's Los Angeles jury trial in a suit filed by a Hollywood antiques store against singer Michael Jackson.

Mayfair Gallery filed suit last November claiming Jackson still it owed more than $178,000 for about $380,000 worth of merchandise he bought in May 2004, KABC-TV, Los Angeles reported.

Jackson's attorney said the disputed items were returned to the store this past weekend and the case is now closed.

The attorney for Mayfair Gallery confirmed "the matter was resolved to the satisfaction of all parties," but refused to provide details, KABC said.

Jackson, who has been living in Bahrain since his acquittal of child molestation charges in June, had not been expected to attend the trial.
