LOS ANGELES, Oct. 21 (UPI) -- Pop star Christina Aguilera wants wedding guests to donate money they would spend on showering her with gifts to hurricane relief charities.

Aguilera and her husband-to-be Jordan Bratman have included the request in invitations to their Christmas-time wedding, the World Entertainment News Network reports.

"While we celebrate the richness of life and all the circumstances that have blessed us in career and love, we are mindful of those who are suffering greatly as a result of hurricanes Katrina and Rita," a card in the invitation says.

"The best gift you could give us is a donation to any of the organizations helping the stricken citizens of New Orleans."
