LOS ANGELES, Oct. 20 (UPI) -- Hollywood actress Shelly Winters was hospitalized in Los Angeles Thursday, recovering from a heart attack.

Winters, 85, suffered the heart attack Friday, "Entertainment Tonight" reported. The two-time Oscar winner was expected to be released from the hospital next week.

The BBC quoted a family statement saying the "Poseidon Adventure" star "is nearly back to her old self."

Winters' career spans six decades and as a young actress she once roomed with Marilyn Monroe. Winters won Academy Awards for "The Diary of Anne Frank" and "A Place in the Sun."

Her last film part was in "La Bomba" in 1999.
