LOS ANGELES, Oct. 15 (UPI) -- Hollywood actor Sylvester Stallone is reprising his role of fighter Rocky Balboa for a sixth installment in the boxing series.
Stallone will star and direct in the film, "Rocky Balboa," the Hollywood Reporter says.
Revolution Studios, which is co-producing and financing the film, released a statement saying the sixth "Rocky" film harkens back to the tone of the original film.
"As a past champion, Rocky Balboa is once again a regular guy who has to find himself and deal with real life. This film brings Rocky's story full circle," Revolution Studios founder Joe Roth said.
In the new film, Rocky is preparing to come out of retirement to fight low-profile local fights when he's approached to fight reigning heavyweight champ Mason "The Line" Dixon, the Reporter said.
Filming is scheduled to start in December.
