LONDON, Oct. 14 (UPI) -- British actor Daniel Craig arrived to a London news conference by speedboat Friday where he was anointed film's sixth James Bond.
The blond star of "Layer Cake" said his Bond will be tougher and grittier than his predecessors, the BBC reported.
"It's a huge challenge. Life is about challenges and this is one of the big ones as an actor," Craig said.
When told he'd won the coveted lead of "Casino Royale," Craig, 37, said he celebrated with a "couple of Martinis."
Craig follows in the debonair footsteps of Pierce Brosnan, Sean Connery, Roger Moore, George Lazenby and Timothy Dalton.
Now that the Bond question is settled, producers said they have their sites set on finding "the best Bond girl ever."
Filming is scheduled to start in January.
