NEW YORK, Oct. 12 (UPI) -- Actor Freddie Prinze Jr. says his "cracked rib" actually turned out to be a torn muscle caused by eating too much Chinese food.

The star of the new ABC sitcom "Freddie" reported last week he woke up in a New York hotel room with a mysteriously cracked rib.

But now the spouse of "Buffy the Vampire Slayer" Sarah Michelle Gellar, says his pain was most likely caused by gorging himself at his favorite Big Apple eatery, the World Entertainment News Network reported Wednesday.

"(My rib) is not cracked," he told WENN. "It's officially torn muscles between two ribs. I ate a lot and my stomach was a little upset and I went to bed and I woke up the next day and I felt like I broke a rib. (I ate) a lot of Chinese food.

"It hurts really bad," he continued. "They gave me Vicodin, but I can't take too much of that because I have to work. So they gave me these anti-inflammatories, but they make me throw up, which tears the muscle more, so it's not really that helpful."
