LOS ANGELES, Oct. 11 (UPI) -- "Silk Stalkings" and "Melrose Place" alum Rob Estes has been cast in ABC's midseason replacement crime series, "The Evidence," it was reported Tuesday.

Estes is replacing former "Boston Legal" star Nicky Katt in the role of a San Francisco detective whose faith in the justice system is shaken after his wife is killed, Zap2it.com reported.

Also starring Orlando Jones and Martin Landau, each episode of "The Evidence" will open with videotape of items from a crime, then it follows the detectives as they figure out what each item means to the case.

The show was created by Dustin Thomason, co-author of the best-selling novel, "Rule of Four."
