Costas may be too busy in 2006 for CNN

LOS ANGELES, Sept. 27 (UPI) -- Ubiquitous TV host Bob Costas says he isn't sure if he will renew his agreement with CNN to substitute for Larry King.

In addition to being the primary anchor at NBC Sports, he hosts "Costas Now" and "Inside the NFL" on HBO.

Costas says he agreed to sub for King 20 times over the course of a year and has at least 12 more programs to go, the New York Post reported Tuesday. Right now, he's sure he can squeeze them in, but next year could be difficult.

"At the time that I agreed to do ('Larry King') NBC had not acquired football for Sunday nights, and I'm not sure what my other assignments might be down the road," he said.

Costas opted out of one King show in August because CNN wanted it to focus on Natalee Holloway, the teen who has been missing in Aruba since last summer.

Costas said his agreement with CNN allows him to step aside from any shows with uncomfortable subject matter.
