NEW YORK, Sept. 26 (UPI) -- Cosmopolitan's fashion market director is suing Diane von Furstenberg for her injuries from falling lights at the designer's New York Fashion Week show.
Twenty feet of lighting crashed down during the finale of the Sept. 11 show, knocking out Karen Hanes Larrain. She suffered a severe concussion and gashes that required 30 stitches.
A lawsuit filed Sept. 16 in New York seeks unspecified damages to recoup medical bills plus pain and suffering, her attorney told the New York Post Monday.
He said his client is still "shaky and dizzy" and unable to work.
A von Furstenberg spokeswoman said the designer sent flowers and made several personal phone calls offering to pay Larrain's medical bills, but never heard back from her.
Larrain's husband and co-plaintiff, Juan Larrain, said the offer doesn't make up for his wife's lost work and lingering injuries. The suit also names the company that manages the designer's studio, the lighting company and the set designer.
