LONDON, Sept. 21 (UPI) -- British filmmaker Guy Ritchie and Madonna were booed at the British premiere of "Revolver" for snubbing about 2,000 assembled star-watchers.

Star Jason Statham spent nearly an hour greeting fans in London's Leicester Square, but the famous couple walked right past the throng into the theater, the BBC said reported.

The booing may have even been started by assembled media, which could not get close to the couple, a fan told the BBC.

Ritchie's latest film has been slammed by critics. In addition to Statham, it stars Ray Liotta and Andre (3,000) Benjamin.

"Ritchie's new film lands on cinemagoers' collective heads like a sack of wet sand," the Guardian said.

Daily Variety called it "tedious" and "convoluted" while the Hollywood Reporter criticized its "pretentious style."
