ASC to honor Richard Kline

LOS ANGELES, Sept. 20 (UPI) -- The American Society of Cinematographers Tuesday announced it was giving its Lifetime Achievement Award to filmmaker Richard H. Kline.

Kline earned Oscar nominations for "Camelot" in 1968 and "King Kong" in 1977. His other credits include "Hang 'Em High," "Soylent Green," "The Andromeda Strain," "Star Trek: The Motion Picture" and "Body Heat," among others.

Kline's father, Benjamin Kline, and uncles, Phil Rosen and Sol Halprin, were also cinematographers. Rosen was an ASC founding member and he and Halprin served as ASC presidents, the organization said in a news release.

Kline will be presented the award Feb. 26 during the 20th Annual ASC Outstanding Achievement Awards in Los Angeles.
