NBC picks up 'Filmore Middle' series

LOS ANGELES, Sept. 14 (UPI) -- NBC has changed its mind about "Filmore Middle" and picked up the pilot it previously rejected for a midseason replacement series.

The network ordered six episodes of the comedy starring Justin Bartha and Sarah Alexander as teachers at a New Jersey middle school, Zap2it.com reported Wednesday.

Bartha was last seen on the big screen in "National Treasure" while Alexander comes from the BBC's "Couplings."

The ensemble cast also includes syndicated radio personality Phil Hendrie; Deon Richmond of "Sister, Sister;" "Buffy the Vampire Slayer's" Kali Rocha, Grant Rosenmeyer of "Oliver Beene" and Matt Winston of "Star Trek: Enterprise."
