Broken Lizard troupe moves to Warner

LOS ANGELES, Sept. 6 (UPI) -- The Broken Lizard comedy troupe has signed a three-year deal to write, direct, produce and appear in films for Warner Bros. Pictures.

Jay Chandrasekhar, Kevin Heffernan, Steve Lemme, Paul Soter and Erik Stolkanske will also write and develop comedies for more established actors under the deal, the Hollywood Reporter says.

The group is known for its low-budget comedies "Super Troopers" and "Club Dread" and Chandrasekhar recently directed the big screen's adaptation of "The Dukes of Hazzard."

Chandrasekhar told the Reporter Warner Bros. hired his group as part of the studio's effort "to create a legitimate comedy scene."
