LOS ANGELES, Aug. 31 (UPI) -- Ben Stiller reportedly wants Jim Carrey to play an obsolete pleasure clone in his comedy, "Used Guys."
Jay Roach will direct the comedy for 20th Century Fox and shooting is scheduled to start in the spring, Daily Variety reported Wednesday. Carrey is in early talks with Stiller to co-star.
Stiller and Roach have been planning the film for years, but the emergence of Carrey as Stiller's co-star has propelled the film toward the start line, Variety said.
The futuristic comedy takes place on Earth after all the men died from drinking an "enhancement" drink that proved fatal. The main characters are clones rendered obsolete by superior models whose enhancements include better listening and lovemaking skills. The scorned clones make a run for it, bent on regaining their dignity by searching for a male nirvana known as Mantopia, Variety said.
