The 66-year-old size 5 1/2 slippers were reported stolen Sunday from the Children's Discovery Museum in Grand Rapids, Judy Garland's hometown, the Minneapolis Star Tribune reported.

Only four pairs of shoes remain from the 1939 classic that anchored the career of Garland, who was known as Frances Gumm while growing up. One of the pairs went for $660,000 in an auction five years ago.

The pair stolen sometime late Saturday evening or early Sunday was insured for $1 million. They had been loaned to the museum for a 10-week exhibit and the owner, Hollywood collector Michael Shaw, was to pick them up Friday, the Star Tribune said.

Art Garfunkel arrested on pot charge

WOODSTOCK, N.Y., Aug. 30 (UPI) -- Singer Art Garfunkel was busted on a pot charge outside of Woodstock, N.Y, his second marijuana violation in two years.

Garfunkel was charged with unlawful possession of marijuana after he was pulled over by state police Sunday for running a stop sign, the Kingston, N.Y. Daily Freeman reported Tuesday.

The arresting trooper "detected a strong odor of marijuana eminating from the vehicle" and a search revealed a joint in the singer's ashtray, the police report said.

Garfunkel, 60, was not charged with driving while impaired because there was no proof he was actually smoking pot, police said.

The New York resident was ordered to appear in court in Woodstock, N.Y., Sept. 22.

The arrest was not far from where Garfunkel was busted in January 2004, the newspaper said. Garfunkel pleaded guilty to that possession charge and paid a $100 fine and a $100 state surcharge.

Man pleads innocent to Aniston break-in

VAN NUYS, Calif., Aug. 30 (UPI) -- A homeless man has pleaded innocent to felony burglary for scaling a fence and walking into actress Jennifer Aniston's Malibu, Calif., house.

David Hesterbey, 48, entered the plea Monday in Los Angeles County Superior Court in Van Nuys, the Los Angeles Times reported Tuesday.

Authorities say Hesterbey climbed a 9-foot fence last Thursday, walked into Aniston's rented beachfront home through an open door and asked an employee if the "Friends" star was there.

Hesterbey was also charged with petty theft for taking a cab to Malibu from Santa Barbara and failing to pay the $250 fare, officials said.
