LOS ANGELES, Aug. 27 (UPI) -- Disney's popular 2002 "Lilo & Stitch" is finally getting a full-length sequel, in the form of a direct-to-DVD feature.

"Lilo & Stitch 2: Stitch Has a Glitch" -- the final project from the now-shuttered Walt Disney's Animation Studios in Sydney, Australia -- comes out on DVD Tuesday.

The original "Lilo & Stitch" was the last hurrah for traditional animation, Zap2it.com reported Saturday. The story of the Hawaiian girl who adopted a "dog" that turned out to be an alien made more than $145 million domestically and $246 million worldwide.

But 2D animation and watercolor backgrounds were supplanted by computer-animated movies such as "Finding Nemo" and traditional cartoon films became passe'.

Dakota Fanning voices Lilo this time around while Tia Carrere, Jason Scott Lee, Kevin McDonald, Chris Sanders and David Ogden Stiers all reprise their original roles.
