Raspberries on the reunion trail

LOS ANGELES, Aug. 25 (UPI) -- The Raspberries has become the latest '70s rock band to reunite with its original members and hit the road.

Singer Eric Carmen, drummer Jim Bontanti, bassist Dave Smalley and guitarist Wally Bryson were preparing to play their first West Coat shows in 30 years, RollingStone.com reports.

After a spate of recent smaller gigs, the band decided to keep on rolling with September House of Blues gigs planned in Los Angeles, San Diego and Atlantic City.

The Raspberries last show with its original lineup was in 1973, but Bryson and Carmen made one more album and called it quits in 1975.

Carmen found success as a solo artist, but the Raspberries never disappeared, Rolling Stone said. The list of stars who professed love for the band over the years includes the late Kurt Cobain, Bruce Springsteen and Mötley Crüe.
