
LONDON, Aug. 25 (UPI) -- Green Day was named best band on the planet and best live act during the annual Kerrang! rock awards in London Thursday.
The rock 'n' roll magazine named Welsh metal group Funeral For a Friend best British band, and New Jersey's My Chemical Romance picked up awards for best album and best video, the BBC reported.
Iron Maiden was inducted into the Kerrang! Hall of Fame and shock rocker Marilyn Manson took the Icon Award for "notoriety that has spread all over the globe."
Foo Fighters' "Best of You" was named best single, Trivium was named best international newcomers and Bullet For My Valentine of Wales picked up best British newcomers.
Nine Inch Nails frontman Trent Reznor was named classic songwriter while Killing Joke was given a lifetime achievement accolade.
The ceremony was hosted by actress Juliette Lewis, lead singer of Juliette and the Licks.
