NEW YORK, Aug. 25 (UPI) -- Actor Russell Crowe has reached a settlement with the New York hotel clerk who ended up on the receiving end of his now infamous telephone tantrum.

"Russell Crowe and Nestor Estrada announce that they have reached a settlement of Estrada's claims stemming from an incident in June at the Mercer Hotel where Estrada was employed," Crowe's publicist, Robin Baum, told E! Online Thursday. "Both sides expressed satisfaction at the resolution."

Details of the settlement were not released, but the New York Daily News reported it to be in the "low six figures."

Crowe was arrested June 6 and booked for felony second-degree assault for hurling the telephone at the clerk after he couldn't get through to his wife in Australia.

Prosecutors refused to comment Thursday on any potential plea deal in the works with the actor, whose next court date is Sept. 14.
