Rapper 50 Cent sues over ads

PHILADELPHIA, Aug. 22 (UPI) -- Rapper 50 Cent is seeking more than a million dollars from a Philadelphia car dealer he claims used his voice and photo without permission in ads.

The suit filed in Philadelphia federal court claims Gary Barbera Enterprises misappropriated the rapper's likeness and trademark, MTV.com reported Monday.

The dealership, however, said 50 Cent made recordings saying, "You're now tuned in to the sounds of my man, Gary Barbera," and "Keep listening for a chance to win a Magnum, and no, I'm not talking about mine, I'm talking about Gary Barbera's Magnum."

The rapper had participated in a Dodge Magnum giveaway with WRDW-FM last spring and the radio station gave the audio to Barbera to use specifically in its ads, a spokesman said.
