Joe Scarborough to leave MSNBC for D.C.?

PENSACOLA, Fla., Aug. 18 (UPI) -- The host of MSNBC's "Scarborough Country," Joe Scarborough, is considering a run against U.S. Sen. Bill Nelson, D-Fla.

Scarborough told the New York Post he met with senior Florida GOP officials about the possibility of replacing Rep. Katherine Harris, R-Fla., in the race next year and, "I'm leaving the door open."

"I'm going to Washington next week to meet with some people, sit back and hear what they have to say and then I'll make my decision," the former congressman said. "I told them I'd give them a chance to change my mind."

Harris has been lagging behind Nelson in polls and some GOP officials are said to be worried about her run against Nelson next year, the Post said.

Scarborough was elected to Congress four times from 1994 to 2001 and his MSNBC show originates from Pensacola, Fla.
