LOS ANGELES, Aug. 17 (UPI) -- The BET network Wednesday announced Martin Lawrence will receive its Comedy Icon Award during this year's BET Comedy Awards show.
Steve Harvey will host the annual ceremony being taped Sept. 25 from the Pasadena, Calif., Civic Auditorium and broadcast over BET on Sept. 27.

Fox TV's "The Bernie Mac Show" dominates the 18 category list of nominees for the second year in a row with eight nods. UPN's "Girlfriends" has six nominations and ABC's "My Wife and Kids" has five, BET said in a news release.
Tyler Perry's "Diary of a Mad Black Woman" received seven nominations to lead all big screen contenders.
Individual nominees include Mac, Chris Rock, Queen Latifah, Damon Wayans, Perry, Ice Cube and Eve.
