ShopElvis.com marks 28th anniversary

MEMPHIS, Aug. 16 (UPI) -- Thousands gathered in Memphis, Tenn., and an Internet tribute marked Tuesday's 28th anniversary of the death of Elvis Presley, the king of rock 'n' roll.

Presley died Aug. 16, 1977, of heart failure at his Graceland Mansion at the age of 42.

On Monday and early Tuesday, thousands of people walked past Presley's grave at Graceland in an annual candlelight vigil.

America Online and some Public Broadcasting System TV stations carried the one-hour Elvis VigilCast live. Fans also posted messages on the official Elvis.com Web site.

ShopElvis.com, the new Web retailer for officially licensed and trademarked Elvis products, opened for business in time for Elvis Week 2005 and offered free shipping worldwide through the end of August.
