NEW YORK, Aug. 16 (UPI) -- Kathie Lee Gifford is joining the syndicated TV celebrity news show "The Insider," it was reported Tuesday.
The former co-host of "Live with Regis and Kathie Lee" has been away from regular television appearances for five years, but says she decided she would enjoy working as a special correspondent interviewing celebrities and covering theater, Zap2it.com reported.
"As you know, I wasn't looking to come back to television on a regular basis," Gifford posted on her Web site.
But, she said "Insider" Executive Producer Linda Bell Blue came to her with an offer in June and said she could choose what she does for the show.
"The more I thought about it, the more I realized how much I would enjoy it," Gifford says.
"The Insider" starts its second season in September.
