LOS ANGELES, Aug. 15 (UPI) -- Matchbox Twenty frontman Rob Thomas is hitting the road for a 43-date solo tour beginning in October.
Thomas is launching a tour Oct. 5 in Albany, N.Y., to support his album "...Something to Be," RollingStone.com reported Monday.
It marks Thomas' first full-blown solo trek.
Thomas told Rolling Stone his 1999 Grammy-winning collaboration with Carlos Santana gave him the confidence to make a move without the band.
"Carlos kind of fortified my belief that I'm a songwriter, and this is what I'm supposed to do," Thomas said. "It just gave me the confidence to be able to say, 'OK, I can step off for the next couple years and just be on my own.'"
