Rowling on short list for Quills award

LOS ANGELES, Aug. 5 (UPI) -- J.K. Rowling's "Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince" is reported on the short list for a major U.S. award.

The latest adventure of the boy wizard has been nominated for a Quills award, the BBC reported Friday. Other authors up for awards include Philip Roth, Stephen King, Nick Hornby and Bob Dylan.

Selected by a readers' vote, winners of the Quills will be named in October.

The shortlists were chosen by thousands of librarians and booksellers, with the requirement the entries had appeared on a bestseller list.
