'Housewife' Hatcher turns author

NEW YORK, Aug. 2 (UPI) -- Award-winning actress Teri Hatcher is adding author to her resume with "Burnt Toast," an inspirational book based on her life experiences.

The star of "Lois and Clark: The New Adventures of Superman" and "Desperate Housewives" will offer her unique perspectives on life in the book due out next spring, Hyperion announced in a news release Tuesday.

Hatcher, who is raising her daughter, Emerson Rose, 7, will write about her experience with single motherhood, her rise to fame, her "down time" after "Superman" ended and her meteoric second wind that included a 2005 Golden Globe Award, a 2005 Screen Actors Guild Award and a 2005 Emmy Award Nomination.

"I have had many women approach me, sharing their own stories, and ask me how it feels to have a second chance at 40," she said in the release. "With this book, I truly hope to reach everyone that I don't bump into on the street and share my story."

Hyperion is a sister company to ABC, the home of "Desperate Housewives."
