Nicole Kidman to star in sci-fi thriller

LOS ANGELES, Aug. 1 (UPI) -- Academy Award-winning actress Nicole Kidman will star in the sci-fi thriller "Invasion," Warner Bros. announced Monday.

Oscar-nominated director Oliver Hirschbiegel will be at the helm of the movie about an epidemic sent to Earth by aliens. Kidman will portray a Washington psychiatrist who discovers the origins of the human-altering illness and fights to save her son, who may hold the key to stop an impending invasion from outer space, Warner said in a news release.

Filming in Baltimore, Washington and New York is scheduled to start in the fall.
