LOS ANGELES, July 26 (UPI) -- Hot on the heels of the announcement that the Transformers are coming to the big screen another popular 1980s toy is getting the Hollywood treatment.

"Voltron: Defender of the Universe" will get big-budget feature treatment from veteran producer Mark Gordon and music producer Pharrell Williams, the Hollywood Reporter said Tuesday.

The story will be based on the 1980s TV series about five explorer-pilots who travel to the planet Arus to learn to operate Voltron, a giant mechanical warrior formed by five smaller robots, the Reporter said.
