Prosecutors say lover killed for greed

LONDON, July 26 (UPI) -- The wealthy literary agent behind the hit films "The Full Monty" and "Billy Elliot" was killed by a gold-digging gay lover, London prosecutors said.

Usman Durrani, 22, is accused of stabbing Rod Hall, 53, to death while chained up during a sado-masochistic sex game, the Times of London reported Tuesday. Durrani has been charged with murder, but he claims the crime was manslaughter.

Prosecutor Aftab Jafferjee told the court Monday Hall and Durrani carried on an affair after meeting on the Internet. But when Hall told his lover he met his "soul mate" and wanted to break up, Durrani killed him, Jafferjee said.

"There is little doubt that one of the things this defendant found most attractive about Mr. Hall was his professional success," Jafferjee said of Durrani, who was secretly married.
