BURBANK, Calif., July 25 (UPI) -- Emmy and Oscar-winning writer/director Paul Haggis is at the helm of an NBC TV mid-season drama called "The Black Donnellys."

Haggis will write, direct and be executive producer of the series about four young Irish brothers and their involvement in organized crime, NBC said in a news release.

Haggis wrote the screenplay for Clint Eastwood's Oscar-winning "Million Dollar Baby" and his most recent film, "Crash," was a success both with the critics and the box office. His latest work, "The Last Kiss" is getting ready to go into production with Zach Braff and Rachel McAdams.

Haggis has two Emmys for the series "thirtysomething," which he helped write and produce.
