NEW YORK, July 21 (UPI) -- The former fiance of rapper Lil' Kim says federal authorities are trying to frame him with charges he ran a deadly New York City street gang.
"It's all a lie," Damion "World" Hardy told Brooklyn federal Magistrate Judge Richard Levy during his arraignment Wednesday, the New York Post reported.
Hardy is charged with murder and drug dealing. He also told the judge he was now a Muslim and goes by the name Isa Ibn Jibril.
Hardy is accused of running a gang called the "Cash Money Brothers," which sold cocaine and killed at least five people in turf-war disputes.
Several of the alleged gang members were arrested along with him.
Hardy's former financee, Lil' Kim, is getting ready to serve a year in jail after being convicted of lying to a grand jury investigating a shooting outside a New York radio station.
