Joe Jackson hopes Michael comes to party

BERLIN, July 20 (UPI) -- Michael Jackson's dad told the BBC Wednesday he did not know if his famous son would attend the father's 76th birthday party in Berlin.

Joe Jackson's birthday is Friday and the musical clan is hosting about 1,000 people at the Estrel hotel for a party in his honor.

"I hope that Michael will come to Berlin. We have a lot of fans in Europe," the elder Jackson said.

Jackson siblings Jermaine, Janet and LaToya will all attend the bash and a hotel spokeswoman said she was "70 percent sure" Michael would be there, too.

Michael Jackson has not made a public appearance since being acquitted of sexually molesting a teenage boy in California last month.
