LOS ANGELES, July 18 (UPI) -- With his movie "The Devil's Rejects" about to open in U.S. theaters, Rob Zombie is touring the nation on the second stage of Ozzfest 2005.

"The Devil's Rejects" comes out Friday and Zombie told Billboard.com he decided to jump onto the heavy metal Ozzfest tour to "get away" and have fun.

"Had Ozzfest come up a couple of weeks earlier, I wouldn't have been able to do it because I would have been still working on the film," he said. "But now, my summer is wide open so rather than just sit around and do nothing, I thought it would be just basically fun."

It's been three years since Zombie has appeared in concert. He wrote and directed the 2003 "House of 1000 Corpses" and "The Devil's Rejects."

Being back on stage is "an experience that nothing else in normal life can ever replicate," he said.

Zombie says his next musical album is almost finished and due out next year and he plans to start his third feature film in the fall.
