Dick Van Dyke stars in Hallmark series

BEVERLY HILLS, Calif., July 18 (UPI) -- Hollywood veteran Dick Van Dyke is starring in a new murder mystery series for cable's Hallmark Channel, it was reported Monday.

The Hollywood Reporter said the star of "The Dick Van Dyke Show" and "Diagnosis Murder" makes his debut in January as a criminology professor in "Murder 101." The series is slated to appear "occasionally" rather than weekly, the Reporter said.

The Hallmark Channel's David Kenin gave a brief synopsis of Van Dyke's character during a weekend session of the Television Critics Association summer press tour in Beverly Hills.

"He bumbles through life not knowing where his keys are, but when he gets involved in a case his mind is a steel trap," Kenin said.
