TORONTO, July 16 (UPI) -- The Johnny Cash biopic "Walk the Line" is scheduled to make its debut at the Toronto International Film Festival.

Festival officials this week said they had obtained the film starring Joaquin Phoenix as the Man in Black for its world premiere during the Sept. 8-17 event, Zap2it.com reports.

The James Mangold-directed film follows Cash from his days on an Arkansas cotton farm through his troubled times as a Nashville superstar.

Alongside Phoenix, Reese Witherspoon plays June Carter Cash and Shelby Lynne is the singer's mother, Carrie. The film is scheduled for release in November.

Cash died Sept. 12, 2004 at age 71, four months after his wife of 35 years died at age 73.
