LOS ANGELES, July 15 (UPI) -- Actor/musician LL Cool J is starring in an urban remake of the 1987 thriller "Fatal Attraction" for Lions Gate studios.

Lions Gate Thursday signed the rapper, whose real name is James Todd Smith, to a multiyear, multiproduction deal, the Hollywood Reporter said Friday.

The star of "Deliver Us From Eva" and "Deep Blue Sea" will play the "Fatal Attraction" role made famous by Michael Douglas. It was not yet known who would take on the role of his tormenter originally played by actress Glenn Close.
