Jackson family plans Berlin bash

BERLIN, July 14 (UPI) -- A Berlin hotel confirmed Thursday that Michael Jackson and his family plan to celebrate patriarch Joe Jackson's 76th birthday in the German capital.

The July 22 party has given rise to rumors the musical clan will stage a concert to thank fans who stood by the pop star during his child molestation trial in Los Angeles, Duetsche Welle reported Thursday. Jackson flew to Bahrain for a vacation after his acquittal.

"This is of course a very special occasion for us," an Estrel Hotel spokeswoman said, confirming Jackson family reservations.

However, a spokesman for the agency organizing the Jackson party said, "one can't know for sure" that Michael, himself, will attend.

It was during Michael's last trip to Berlin that he created a worldwide stir by dangling his infant son, Prince Michael II, over the balcony of the Adlon Hotel.
