LONDON, July 14 (UPI) -- "Welcome to the Jungle" director Peter Berg has signed on to direct an adaptation of Robert Howard's fantasy novel "Bran Mak Morn" for the big screen.

It will be the first fantasy for Berg, who received accolades for his sports movie, "Friday Night Lights," Empire magazine reported Thursday.

Britain's Working Title is producing the story about a Pictish king who formed an alliance with a supernatural group of warriors to stave off the Roman invasion of Britain.

The stories are being adapted by John Romano of "American Pastoral," "Intolerable Cruelty" and James Cameron's TV series "Dark Angel."
