LOS ANGELES, July 11 (UPI) -- Daryl Hall of Hall and Oates was recovering Monday from Lyme disease, which brought the U.S. rock duo's comeback tour to a screeching halt.

A deer tick bite transmitted the potentially debilitating disease to the tall, blond half of the classic rock duo known for hits like "Maneater," "I Can't Go for That (No Can Do)," "Rich Girl," "Private Eyes" and "Kiss on My List."

The disease was caught early when Hall, 55, developed a bull's-eye shaped rash and flu-like symptoms, E! Online reported. He is convalescing at his home in upstate New York and expected to make a full recovery, his publicist said.

If caught early, Lyme disease can be treated with antibiotics. About 16,000 cases are reported annually in the United States.

The tour is expected to resume sometime in August.
