NEW YORK, July 8 (UPI) -- New York stage actor Jeff Gardner has acquired the stage musical rights for "Grumpy Old Men" for a possible Broadway opening in 2008.

The 1993 feature film starring Jack Lemmon and Walter Matthau as feuding neighbors who find romance made about $70 million at the U.S. box office, reported Variety Friday.

A creative team has not been announced.

Gardner has appeared in Broadway productions "The Wild Party," "The Scarlet Pimpernel" and "Jerome Robbins' Broadway."

Gardner's one major commercial producing credit was "Night Out."
