LOS ANGELES, July 7 (UPI) -- Chris Evans says that the stars of "Fantastic Four" developed a family relationship while the movie was being shot.

"Fantastic Four," about a spaceship crew converted to superheroes by cosmic radiation, hits movie screens Friday.

Evans told Zap2it.com that director Tim Story did a good job of casting.

"He found a bunch of people he knew would work well together," says Evans. "Our off-screen camaraderie definitely translates on film."

Evans said that Ioan Gruffudd, the British actor who plays Mr. Fantastic, became a mentor to the rest of the cast. He told Zap2it that he and Michael Chiklis, as two Boston boys with a mutual devotion to the Red Sox, bonded in spite of the 20-year difference in their ages.

Jessica Alba plays Evans' on-screen sister, Sue Storm, and he said they developed both sibling closeness and a little bit of sibling rivalry.

But Evans said that Australian actor Julian McMahon was nothing like his on-screen character, Victor Von Doom.
