NEW YORK, July 1 (UPI) -- Some of the most personal possessions of late Hollywood actor Marlon Brando brought in some $2.4 million at auction at Christie's New York.
Perhaps most prized of the 350 personal effects offered by Brando's estate was his annotated script for the 1972 classic film, "The Godfather," in which Brando won an Oscar for his performance as mobster Don Corleone.
The script with Brando's handwritten notes brought in $312,800 by an anonymous phone bidder -- a record price for a film script, reported the New York Post Friday.
Clark Gable's "Gone with the Wind" script sold for $244,500 at a Christie's auction in 1996.
A letter written by "Godfather" author Mario Puzo, asking Brando to consider starring in the movie, went for $132,000. A transcript of a telegram from Brando to Marilyn Monroe after her nervous breakdown in 1961 went for $36,000.
