Helen Keller documentary out in Dec.

PHILADELPHIA, June 26 (UPI) -- A documentary, "Shining Soul: Helen Keller's Spiritual Life and Legacy" will show the role played by Emanuel Swedenborg's spiritual theology in her life.

Swedenborg's theology helped inspire Keller's triumph over her triple disabilities of blindness, deafness and a severe speech impediment, according to Deborah Forman, Swedenborg Foundation executive director/publisher.

"Most of us know Helen Keller only through a brief exposure to her in school or through the film or stage play 'The Miracle Worker,' but she was named by Time Magazine as one of the 100 most influential people of the 20th century," said Forman.

Keller encountered Swedenborg's works during her early teens, and they supplied answers to the profound questions about her own life, God, and religion and helped inspire her drive to make the most of her life in service of others, breaking down millennia of cruelty and dehumanization of the disabled, Forman said.

The documentary will be available on DVD and VHS Dec. 1.
